Retreat Theme
Transforming the self, Transforming the world : The sacred journey of Service
When there is transformation at the individual level, only then there can be transformation at the national level. The progress of a nation depends on the character of her men and women.
— Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Sri Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 39 (2006)
Our Distinguished Speakers

Dr. P. V. Shankar has known Swami for more than five decades, and has been gifted with a wealth of experiences and understanding of Swami’s teachings. With a Ph. D in computer science from the Indian Institute of Bengaluru, he has been a pioneer in the cutting edge of technology, and has held senior positions in academia and industry. He has authored three books “Sai Antarvani”, Yaksha Prashna the Timeless Dialogue”, and “Kathopanishad The Secret of Life and Death.”, and currently serves as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council, Zone 1.
Sri. R.J. Rathnakar is the son of Swami’s younger brother, Sri R.V. Janakiramaiah. From an early age, he was brought up under the loving care and divine guidance of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who groomed him for greater responsibilities in His divine mission. He was awarded the All-Rounder Gold Medal in 1990 and completed his MBA from the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning in 1991.
Bhagawan later appointed him as the Chairman of Srimati Easwaramma High School, Puttaparthi, and in March 2010, he was appointed as a Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. He currently serves as the Managing Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and is also a Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust and the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning Trust.
Blessed with innumerable intimate experiences as a Sai student and trustee with our beloved Bhagawan, Sri Rathnakar’s dedication to Swami and His mission is exemplified through the impeccable planning and execution of the grand centenary celebrations held in Puttaparthi—the Janmabhoomi and Karmabhoomi of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Dr. Vineet was an alumnus of both the Brindavan and Prasanthi Nilayam (Parthi) campuses of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL), Dr. Basotia entered Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s fold in 1994 at Brindavan, pursuing B.Com (Hons.). He completed his Master of Financial Management (M.F.M.) in 1999 and, following Swami’s explicit instruction, later earned his Ph.D. Fondly called the “Assam Boy” by Bhagawan, he was blessed with deeply transformative experiences, including travelling with Swami to Kodaikanal in 1998 and 2003. These trips, along with personal interactions, divine interventions during illness and hardship, and direct guidance on his academic and career path, instilled in him profound love for Sai and deep connection
with our Lord.
In his corporate journey Dr. Vineet Basotia is a distinguished executive leader with over two decades of executive and senior leadership experience, blending analytical expertise and Senior leadership roles. Currently serving as Vice President of Commercial Growth & Optimization at WillScot Mobile Mini in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was previously based in Amsterdam as Senior Global Director and Head of Healthcare
Systems Research and Analytics at Philips. He also worked for Global firms like GE healthcare and Fidelity Investments. Dr. Basotia was recognized among the 2024 Global Top 100 Innovators in Data & Analytics- invited to participate in World economic forum as a panelist on AI and ML.
As an alumnus, Dr. Basotia played a pivotal role in forming and nurturing the alumni-led “Catalyst” program, a self-sustaining initiative that mentors SSSIHL graduates during career transition. Over the years, he has been invited to numerous coaching and mentoring sessions including training for Samarpan sessions and recently served as a speaker for the Arizona chapter’s celebrations marking Bhagawan’s 100th birth centenary.
Today, as a husband to Garima Gupta and father to twin sons Vivaan and Reyansh, Dr.Basotia and his family are in the process of relocating from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to the United States.

The retreat is made possible by the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. Devotees are encouraged to volunteer for any seva opportunity that appeals to them. To practice Unity in Thought, Word and Deed, all volunteers are requested to follow-up on their commitments. This is your commitment to Swami.
Please review carefully the service opportunities that are briefly outlined including the timings. Note as you volunteer, you might have to miss some of the programs as the timings of some service opportunities might conflict with the main program. Most activities (except SSE Teachers) require 2 to 3 hours of commitment.
List of Service Opportunities (more to come…)
Audio System Support
This group takes care of the Audio system requirements during the retreat. They help transport, setup and monitor sound systems in Devotion Hall, SSE programs, Young Adults meeting room and workshop venues.
Site Setup
Committed volunteers are needed to transform the campsite into an atmosphere where all can enjoy an uplifting, spiritual experience. This is done on Friday. Setup needs to be completed prior to our first bhajan session on Friday evening. A large number of volunteers are needed in the devotion hall to help with setting up of the altar, decorations and seating arrangements. Volunteers are also needed to help place signs and banners throughout the campsite for easy navigation. Assistance is needed in transferring groceries / supplies to the kitchen area and in setting up the dining hall.
Site Cleanup
We all want to leave the camp and head home as soon as possible but our goal is to leave the site in a better condition than when we arrived. If you can stay back and help with the camp cleanup, it would be greatly appreciated. Please note that this is a much needed service. We are very grateful to those who assist in our retreat’s closing activities.
Devotion Hall Maintenance
Maintenance of the devotion hall, including ushering of devotees, preparing for programs/workshops, etc.
Dining Hall
This service involves setting up and keeping the dining area clean and lovingly serving all devotees. Please note that this seva does not involve cooking. Do not check off this service if you are participating in cooking a meal with your center at the same time.

Service Desk
These volunteers will be at the service desk which forms the central point of contact for devotees for all their needs. Service desk functions include matching attendees to the service activities they have committed to, serving as lost and found, disseminating messages, managing emergencies, dispatching external transportation where needed, etc. They will ensure that problems with cabins are dealt with appropriately. They will have directions and information about nearest hospitals, hotels, bus stations, supermarkets, and other facilities.

In the devotion hall, help is needed in arranging and maintaining the shoes in an orderly fashion.
SSSE Teachers and Support

Videography
This is an aspect where memories created are kept for a many years after the event. This will be a major service to all the devotees who are unable to attend the retreat or who were providing valuable seva in the areas identified in this section. Retreat videos are posted on the regional website. If you have camcorders/video equipment and are good at using them, then please consider signing up for this seva.
God will not ask you, when and where you rendered service? He will ask with what motive you did it. You may boast about the quantity, but God seeks quality, the quality of the heart, the purity of the mind, the nobility of the motive. The Lord is pleased only when you do the things He desires. How else can you win His grace, but by nursing and nourishing His children.
— March 19, 2008 Thought for the Day
